Responsible Lending

We're committed to lending fairly, transparently and only when it's in your best interest.

Our commitment

At Amigo Loans, responsible lending isn't a box to tick — it's fundamental to how we operate. We believe that access to credit should never come at the cost of a customer's financial wellbeing.

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA Reference: 708284), and we adhere fully to the FCA's Consumer Credit Sourcebook (CONC) and Consumer Duty requirements.

Affordability assessment

Before approving any loan, we carry out a thorough affordability assessment for both the borrower and the guarantor. This includes:

  • Reviewing income and expenditure to ensure monthly repayments are manageable
  • Checking credit history and existing debt obligations
  • Verifying that both parties understand and accept the terms of the agreement
  • Assessing whether the loan is appropriate given each person's financial circumstances

Clear and transparent information

We always present the full cost of borrowing — including the representative APR, total interest payable and total amount repayable — before any agreement is signed. We do not use misleading promotional materials and we will never hide fees in small print.
